Drinking Liberally Tonight!

Hi liberal drinkers,

Join us tonight for great drinks and liberal politics!

CAMBRIDGE DRINKING LIBERALLY
Every Wednesday, 7 - 8:30
People's Republik, 876 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge MA

This week, with Indiana and North Carolina in the books, have we reached the end of the Democratic Primary?

Meanwhile, there's a lot going on outside the Democratic Primary, what with the Myanmar cyclone disaster, the Pentagon pundit program, the Mississippi 1st District runoff, and the Celtics/Cavs series (1-0 Boston!), among other things.

So come on by tonight and give us your 2 cents (which, according to CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/05/06/coin.inflation.ap/index.html ), now cost 2.5 cents to make).

John

Tonight we'll be chatting about the Earth, and what our elected officials can do to prevent global warming and other environmental catastrophes. Will Congress do something about the ethanol-fueled food shortages threatening starvation in many poverty-stricken countries? Will Gov. Patrick get behind the Global Warming Solutions Act, and help it get through the Massachusetts state house? Will the City of Cambridge's effort to help property owners retrofit their buildings to become more energy efficient work?

This week, the big story is Hillary Clinton's big win in Pennsylvania. What does her victory mean for the rest of the presidential election? Also: what have you been doing for Earth Day? Discuss your thoughts about bicycling, recycling, composting, and anything and everything green, tonight at Drinking Liberally!

The Pennsylvania primary is now less than a week away! How will the votes shake out? Which Democrat will win? And on the Republican side, will John McCain ever bother to follow campaign finance law, or will he just consider his wild and "maverick" ways?

Discuss these topics, and anything else on your mind, tonight at Drinking Liberally!

Drinking Liberally Tonight!

Hello Liberal Drinkers,

Join us tonight for another round of drinks and politics:

This week: The campaign continues, as Senators Clinton and Obama prepare for the Pennsylvania primary and beyond. Meanwhile, John McCain continues to not know who is doing what in Iraq, Congress continues to work on the economic and housing crises, and Deval Patrick gets a book deal. Oh, and some event called "base ball" started up again. Apparently, it's where one person uses a large wooden stick to hit a small ball thrown by another person out of a park. The city of Boston has a team involved in this endeavor, or so I have been told.

So, come on out to talk about this "base ball", or the political world, or anything else that's going on!

Yesterday Media Matters released a fascinating report called "McCain's Free Ride", about John McCain's cozy relationship with the national media. Meanwhile, at the local level, Gov. Patrick's casino plan died in the state house, and the governor now needs to consider other policy priorities. Also, the US government recently closed the comment period on Cape Wind, the proposed 130-turbine Nantucket Sound clean energy project.

What do you think about these developments? Is John McCain getting a free ride in the press? What should Gov. Patrick's next round of priorities be? Should we allow Cape Wind to go forward, or should we pursue other methods for stopping global warming?

Join us tonight to discuss these topics - or anything else that's on your mind!

This week, we've got lots to chat about! The Democratic presidential nomination appears to be at a stalemate, and NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer has resigned from office. Closer to home, it looks like Deval Patrick's casino plan is about to get tossed out of the legislature, but a new poll shows big majorities in the Commonwealth want the Cape Wind project to move forward.

What's on your mind this week? Drop by tonight for good drinks and liberal chat!

With last night's primaries, we've got plenty to talk about. The Democratic primary is closer than ever, and John McCain appears to have wrapped up the Republican nomination. What do you make of the results? What does the future hold - will we be in Iraq for 100 more years, or are we finally going to take on global warming? Drop by tonight to drink and discuss!
